Abstract

1,010,288. Coating apparatus. A. G. FORSHAW. Sept. 23, 1964, No. 38728/64. Heading B2B. A roller comprises a head member rotatably mounted on an axle member to which a handle is attached, one of the members having mounted. thereon a resilient projection which engages in a recess formed in the other member to thereby locate the head member on the axle member. In the embodiment shown, a paint roller comprises a head 10 rotatably mounted on an axle 11 to which a handle 12 and gripping means 13 are attached, provision also being provided for extending the handle. The head 10 consists of a cylinder 14 of cellular material mounted on metal tube 15 and bearing members 16 formed from a self-lubricating synthetic resin material, e.g. nylon, polyethylene or polytetrafluoroethylene; the bearing members 16 having cylindrical portions 17 fitting within the tube 15 and rotatable on axle 11. Each member 16 is formed with an annular projection 19 which engages in a recess 20 in the axle 11 adjacent each end of head 10 to provide a snap fit between the head and the axle.
