1,055,686. Coating apparatus. R. W. BRITTAIN. Aug 18, 1965. No. 35331/65. Heading B2L. [Also in Division A5]. A roller for applying cosmetics comprises a cylindrical sleeve 16, or annular member, of porous material, e.g. natural sponge, sponge rubber or foamed polyurethane or vinyl copolymer, mounted for rotation on either a tube 12 for receiving a finger or a shaft with a slotted finger receiving sleeve attached (Fig. 8 not shown). The sleeve 16 may be supported by an inner tube 14 rotatable on the tube 12 and is retained in position by end flanges 20, 22 of the tube 12. As the tube or shaft is moved over the face, the sleeve rolls cosmetic on to the skin.
