Abstract

The process of impregnating a porous ceramic with fresh pitch (defined) of the parent Specification is improved by subjecting the impregnated shape to superatmospheric pressure for a second time after removing the pitch; followed by release of pressure and cooling. Magnesia brick with lime (1-59%) can be impregnated but chrome ore and alumina can also be present. Specification 949,082 also is referred to.
