Abstract
SO3 is produced by passing O2 and SO2 between two flat circular oil-cooled stainless steel electrodes of approximately 5 cm. diameter to which a 4 kV peak voltage is applied at a frequency of 700 kc./sec. The electrodes are positioned 10 mm. apart with a 2 to 4 mm. fused silica screen in contact with one of them in a vessel maintained at a pressure of 1/3 atmosphere.
