Abstract

1,008,368. Microscope objectives. W. WATSON & SONS Ltd. and J. M. DREWITT. Dec. 20, 1961 [Jan. 11, 1961], No. 1256/61. Heading G2J. The objective comprises at least four components of which the front one 11 is of positive power having a concave front face and |r 1 |>|r 2 | the rear one 14 is a negative meniscus convex towards the front and the other component(s) is/are of positive power. As shown the front component is also a meniscus and the two middle components 12, 13 are cemented doublets. Preferably, the negative astigmatism of the rear component 14 balances the positive astigmatism of the intermediate components 12, 13.
