Abstract
1,007,891. Directional microphones. AKUTISCHE U. KINO-GERATE G.m.b.H. June 14, 1962 [June 19, 1961], No. 23000/62. Headings H4J and H4R. In an arrangement for obtaining a unidirectional effect for the reception of sound from varying distances, a pressure-gradient microphone has combined with it an adjustable resistive-capacitive electric or acoustic attenuator which controls the attenuation of sound arriving at the rear of the microphone. In Fig. 1, the outputs of a pressure microphone 1 and a pressure-gradient microphone 2 are combined after amplification, and the circuit of the latter includes a resistance-capacitance network which is variable by a switch U. Figs. 2, 4 show a single pressure-gradient condensed microphone having a diaphragm 5. In Fig. 2, a phase-shift acoustic network is formed by a capacitance C constituted by a cavity and a frictional resistance R with a duct 7 leading to a chamber C<SP>1</SP> provided with an adjustable gap R<SP>1</SP>. In Fig. 4, the capacitance C is formed by an annular space communicating with the diaphragm 5 by way of an adjustable gap R<SP>11</SP>. The microphone may take a cylindrical form with annular adjusting rings associated with distance-graduated scales.
