Abstract
Metal modified polypropylene fibres are dyed with sulphonic acid group free dyes having the general formula <FORM:1007849/D1-D2/1> in which R is a carboxyclic diazo component in which X is ortho to the azo group and is alkoxy, carbalkoxy or phenoxy which may be further substituted, R1 is a pyrazolone-5 radical linked in the 4-position to the azo group. The dyes may be applied from neutral, acidic or alkaline aqueous media dispersions preferably at 50-130 DEG C., in presence of carriers e.g. diphenyl, tri-chlorobenzene, carboxylic acids and esters. Conventional dispersing agents, thickeners and emulsifying agents may be used. Metals used for fibre modification are nickel, zinc, magnesium and copper.
