Abstract
1,005,479. Froth flotation apparatus. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. Feb. 24, 1964 [Feb 23, 1963], No. 7530/64. Heading B2H. The pulp input to a cylindrical and/or conical froth flotation chamber is by way of one or more radially aligned pipes or by way of two tangentially directed pipes the centrifugal actions of which are in opposition. In Figs. 1 and 2 the inlets 3 and 4 with control valves 13, 14, project tangentially into an annular turbulent space 6 above a conical settling portion 2 with calming plates 11. A central column 5 surrounded by a launder 8 allows for the rise and collection of froth. The inlets are set at different heights. In Fig. 5 the inlet 15<SP>11</SP> to the turbulent annular space 6<SP>11</SP> is set along a diameter of the upper cylindrical portion of the chamber. Air is pumped into the region 6<SP>11</SP> from the outside through perforations 18<SP>11</SP> fed from a surrounding duct 17<SP>11</SP>, and from the inside through perforations 19<SP>11</SP> fed from the cavity of the double walled froth duct 5<SP>11</SP>. A float 24<SP>11</SP> regulates the exhaust of tailings.
