Abstract

1,004,297. Collapsible grilles. F. J. S. (ELFORT) Ltd. Jan. 9, 1964 [Jan. 29, 1963], No. 3552/63. Heading E1J. A collapsible grille comprises two stationary guide bars 1A a top fixed bar 1C and a bottom bar 2 movable up and down by cord 5, lattice members 4B each comprising a strip of material arranged so that its opposite long edges are towards the front and rear of the grille and pairs of spaced rods 3E carrying spaced links 3 secured thereto and spaced by sleeves 3F, the rods 3 and the bottom bar 2 being guided in the fixed bars 1A and the lattice members 4B being slidably engaged at each end in the links 3 in slots 4F. The guided ends of the bottom bar 2 are shown in Fig. 3 and the ends of the top bar 1C are shown in Fig. 2 supported on bolts 1G. Alternative lattice arrangements, e.g. herring- bone are described as well as alternative forms of the link construction, in one of which each row of links is superseded by a strip of metal with T-shaped ends and arranged on the flat and extending laterally across the grille, the lattice members sliding in slots in the strip.
