Abstract

1,003,039. Bookcases. D. M. S. MACEWAN. March 12, 1962 [Dec. 12, 1960], No. 42826/60. Heading A4B. A storage cabinet or bookcase has front and rear storage means and comprises an open-fronted box-like casing 1 housing a series of horizontal shelves 2 supported by vertical partitions 3 which together form a series of fixed book boxes. The casing 1 and shelves 2 have integral forward extensions 1A and 2A such that open-fronted book-boxes 4 slide horizontally along and are removable from the extensions 2A. Grooves 6 on the upper faces of parts 2A take parallel longitudinal runners 5 fixed beneath boxes 4. Alternatively the runners may be fixed to the shelves, and the boxes grooved. The number of boxes 4 on each shelf is one less than that of the rear boxes.
