Abstract

1,003,035. Bed bottoms; mattresses; furniture frames. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Aug. 14, 1962 [Aug. 29, 1961], No. 31024/61. Headings A4J, A4M and A4W. A base support for upholstery comprises a moulded or formed sheet of rigid thermoplastic resinous composition having on one face 11 at least one series of interconnected channels which communicate with atmosphere at openings, e.g. as at 12, through the sheet. The channels may or may not extend to the periphery of the sheet which may be formed as a load supporting frame. The sheet may be shaped to receive a correspondingly shaped upholstery structure which may be a foam rubber mattress or cushion. The thermoplastic may be polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polyethylene or an acrylonitile-butadrine-styrene copolymer and may be moulded to incorporate stiffening members e.g. of wood or metal.
