268,915. Howard, H. A. Feb. 4, 1926. Cushions; upholstery stuffing - materials. - A cushioned surface for seats or upholstery is formed by superposed layers of bars or strips of resilient material, the strips in suceessive layers crossing at an angle, and those in alternate layers being in staggered relation. The bars or strips may be solid or tubular and, constructed of sponge or solid rubber, or canvas or rubber tubes may be used filled with fibrous or fragmentary stuffing material such as horse-hair, rubber or cork. The interstices between the bars may also be filled with such fibrous or fragmentarv materials. A cushion constructed as described may be superposed upon a bed of upholstery springs.
