Abstract
1,002,955. Chiropodial pads. SCHOLL MFG. CO., Ltd. Aug. 24, 1961 [Sept. 16, 1960], No. 30592/61. Heading A5R. [Also in Division A3] A chiropodial pad comprises a laminated structure formed of a body part 1 of cushioning material and a cover film 5 of tetrafluoroethylene polymer or a polyethylene terephthalate resin secured to one face of the body part, the exposed face of the pad on the opposite side thereof to the cover film being provided with means for securing the pad to an article of footwear or the users body. A metatarsal arch support comprises a body part 1 of sponge rubber or felt having a slippery upper covering 5 of tetrafluoroethylene polymer a polyethylene terephthalate with an adhesivecoated margin 6 extending beyond the body to enable it to be stuck inside a shoe. The lower side of the body part is covered with a synthetic plastic film 3 coated with adhesive. A callous pad (Fig. 4) comprises an apertured body part of polyurethane or vinyl foam having a slippery film 14 stuck on one side and an adhesive layer 12 on the other side. In a similar corn pad the slippery film is also apertured. A bunion pad (Fig. 12) has a cushioning body part 29 which is concavely recessed to receive the bunion and has a slippery outer film 31 stuck to it, extensions 33 of the outer film carrying adhesive for securing the pad in place. A partial insole (Fig. 9) comprises a cushion layer 21, to which a metatarsal pad 22 may be affixed, a slippery upper covering 23 and an adhesive-coated strip 26 extending across its underface at the rear for securing the insole to a shoe. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 752,738.
