Abstract

1395429 Boots &c A VALENTA 3 Jan 1973 [4 Jan 1972] 378/73 Heading A3B A shoe insole includes an upper layer 2, a lower layer 3 and a resilient arched support member 4 sandwiched between the layers 2 and 3. The support member 4 includes a pad portion 9 for supporting the metatarsal bones of a wearer's foot, a portion 10 for supporting the arch of the wearer's foot and an opening 6A or trough 6 in the rear portion for the wearer's heel bone. The insole may be built into a shoe or may be inserted in an existing show. The layers 2, 3 may be formed by splitting a laminated web the member 4 being inserted in the split as shown in Fig. 2. The layers 2, 3 each consist of a layer of fabric coated with plastics material, the plastics coating being on the exposed faces of the layers 2, 3. The layer 2 may also be provided with ventilation holes (not shown).
