Abstract
1,002,053. Induction furnaces. A. WERTLI. May 12, 1964 [May 25, 1963], No. 19717/64. Heading H5H. An induction furnace 1 of the type comprising a space 9 containing induction coils (not shown) and surrounded by an annular chamber 10 containing molten metal, has an orifice 4 connected to a conventional casting die 5 and cooling unit 6, the metal being fed through a hollow body 11 made of refractory non-conducting material which interrupts the current induced by the coils so that turbulence caused thereby in the metal flow to the die 5 is eliminated or reduced. The molten metal around the body 11 serves to keep warm the feed to the die, several of which may be connected to the orifice 4.
