Abstract
1320876 Electro-physical measurement; liquid level BORG-WARNER CORP 14 Jan 1971 [16 Jan 1970] 1965/71 Heading G1N [Also in Division G3] The invention relates to a continuous casting system of the kind shown in Specification 834783 where the level of molten steel in a water-cooled mold is automatically controlled by the billetdrive-speed in accordance with signals from an inductive-level-detector. In this invention the inductive level sensor coils are inside the water jacket instead of surrounding it outside. A circuit is described in detail, Fig. 3 (not shown), together with a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown). Coil Arrangement, Figs. 5 and 6. The secondary may be a flat coil Fig. 6, having a tapering shape (by padding out with insulation 30<SP>1</SP>I. This coil is placed outside the coil 30<SP>1</SP>P, Fig. 5, on one side thereof and with the port 30<SP>1</SP>C at the bottom to give improved low-level control.
