Abstract

1,099,546. Mineral mining installations. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. May 5, 1965 [May 6, 1964]. No. 18936/65. Heading E1F. A coal winning installation consists of a longwall conveyor with both a stripping machine and a hewing machine moving the conveyor without fouling each other. The stripping machine is supported for longitudinal movement with respect to a channel, by a guide piece sliding within the channel, which is mounted on the coal-face side of the conveyor. The plough is moved by a haulage chain housed in the channel. The hewing machine, cutting at up to roof height, is supported on the upper side of the conveyor and chain guided along a channel on the goaf side of the conveyor.
