In a light metal piston having a cylindrical gudgeon pin mounted in two spaced bosses the external diameter of the pin and the internal diameter of the bosses are in a ratio of between 0À5 : 1 and 0À65 1 to the diameter of the piston. The gudgeon pin may be of light metal coated with a harder metal, e.g. hard chromium.
