Abstract

1,098,374. Helmets. MINISTER OF TECHNOLOGY. Aug. 26, 1966 [Aug. 26, 1965], No. 36648/65. Heading A3V. A partial pressure helmet 10 includes a pressure shell 12, a visor 13, and a flexible portion 15, a sealing flange 14 isolating the crown region from the rest of the helmet when the helmet is pressurized. In the crown there is a pad 18 and a vent 20 and the sealing edge 21 of the flange 14 is mounted on a head harness 19. There is a gas tight sliding fastener 17 in the portion 15 and the helmet is connected to a pressure suit by a neck race 16, the cross sectional area of the neck region 22 being adjustable by means of a band 23 to set up a pressure differential in the helmet.
