Abstract

1,098,034. Presses. A. J. FRANCIS. May 12, 1965 [April 24, 1964], No. 16986/64. Heading B3H. A press tool includes a frame with rigid side members 2, a transverse beam 8 adjustably fixed between the side members, a transverse beam 10 which is counterpoised to the beam 8 and vertically movable under the action of an hydraulic jack 32, and a workpiece support 4. The jack urges the beam 10 downwardly relative to a workpiece located between the beam and the support 4. Struts 14 connect the beam 10 with counterweights 21 carried by the beam 8, pins 33 being positionable within apertures in the struts to support the beam 10 when the tool is inoperative. The beam 8 is adjustable using pins 7 which pass through brackets 9 on the beam and holes 6 spaced along the side members 2.
