Abstract

A functional fluid composition comprises a base stock of formula <FORM:1097797/C4-C5/1> where A is oxygen or sulphur and X and Y are each chlorine or bromine and a blending agent selected from (1) a halogenated C1-C4 alkyl benzene in which the halogens are chlorine or bromine, (2) a mono-chlorinated or brominated diphenyl ether, (3) a chlorinated biphenyl having 20-60 wt. per cent of combined chlorine or (4) a mixture of compounds selected from (1), (2) and (3). Extensive lists of examples of each component are given. The composition may also include polyalkyl-acrylates and methacrylates.
