Abstract

1,096,440. Cleaning tanks. A. P. V. CO. Ltd. March 3, 1967 [April 25, 1966], No. 18031/66. Heading A4F. [Also in Division F2] A cleaning system comprises storage tanks 11, 12 for cleaning liquids, a source of rinsing water, pumps 13-15 for pumping cleaning liquids and water along separate main supply lines 6-8, return lines 9, 10 for returning the cleaning liquids to the respective storage tanks and individual supply and return conduits 4, 5 for cleaning circuits in which, for example, a road tanker 1, a storage tank 2 and a pipeline 3 are connected to be cleaned, the return conduits being connectable by valves 4a, 4b, 4c; 5b, 5c to the main supply lines and the return lines respectively. Sterilant flows along the lines 7, 9 whilst the lines 8, 10 along which detergent flows may be insulated for use with hot detergent. Water is supplied through the line 6 and a drain connection is attached to each return conduit 5 via a valve 5a. The valves 4a, 4b, 4c, 5a, 5b, 5c are opened and closed in sequence to provide a cleaning programme such as water rinse, detergent circulation, water rinse, sterilant circulation, water rinse.
