Abstract
1,095,617. Lining tunnels. HOLLYBANK ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. May 25, 1966, No. 23381/66. Heading E1F. A lining unit for underground roadways or tunnels incorporating spaced beams Gl, G2 is wide enough to span the gap between adjacent beams and consists of a mesh part 1 and sheet metal part 2 hinged together by brackets 4 fixed to part 2 and slidingly engaging the edge wire 5 of part 1. The parts are capable of relative lateral displacement equal to the pitch of the vertical wires of the mesh. Part 2 has hooks 6 to engage the lower edge wire of an adjacent upper unit. To interlock with adjacent side unit and to secure the units to the beam G1, the appropriate edge wire is out and bent to form hooks 8.
