Abstract

1,094,663. Extrusion granulators. SOCIETA ITALIANA RESINE S.p.A. July 25, 1966 [July 30, 1965], No. 33278/66. Heading B5A. An extrusion granulator for synthetic thermoplastic material comprises a cylindrical chamber C formed by casing 6 and a multi-orificed die plate 1 having a concave face 1a and a cutter device rotated by a drive shaft 5 whose blades 2 are thrust towards and into contact with die plate 1 by centrifugal force. Blades 2 are seated in an arm 3 and preferably a pair of axially spaced arms are provided to support opposite ends of the blades. The end walls of chamber C are provided with plates 4 which prevent detachment of blades 2 from arms 3 during their travel when not in contact with face 1a. The blades may be replaced by others of different weight or blade-restraining springs may be provided to modify the centrifugal action. The extrudate is solidified by water or other cooling fluid which enters via port 7 and carries granulate with it on leaving via port 8.
