Abstract
1,093,818. Road traffic signals on vehicles. K. S. GOPALAN, K. G. RAMANATHAN and K. G. MOHANDAS. Dec. 14, 1964 [Dec. 26, 1963], No. 50769/64, Heading G4Q. Operation of a turn indicator switch 4 by day causes the side lights I or r on the appropriate side to flash in addition to the signal lamps L or R; at night the side lights light continuously, and signals are given by lamps L or R. In Fig, 2 the output of the flasher unit 2 may be connected by the switch 4 to either L or R which is in series with a relay coil 5 or 6. As the lamps flash the relay coil causes an armature 7 or 9 to open and close thereby flashing the lamps I or r. By night the lamps I or r are energized via switch 11 and are in series with coils m1 and m2 which operate armatures n1 and n2 to shortcircuit coils 5 and 6. Associated signal and side lights may comprise different filaments in the same lamp. Modified circuits, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), avoid the use of coils m1 and m2.
