Abstract

816,010. Trafficators. C.A.V. Ltd. Sept. 12, 1957 .[Oct. 31, 1956], No. 33189/56. Class 118(2). A flashing direction-indicating system on road vehicles drawing trailers is arranged so that in the event of failure of a lamp required for signalling a manoeuvre, no signal is given. The driver's selector switch has a part f controlling the vehicle indicators (lv, rv) and a part g ganged to f to control the trailer lamps lt, rt. If both sets of selected lamps are working, the current taken by them flows through relay coils c, d and actuates switches a, b. If one or both sets of lamps have failed, the relay does not operate. A hold-on winding h keeps the relay energized. The current flowing is not sufficient to light the lamps, which are lit through switch k of a flasher unit. Switch m makes a warning light w. The flasher unit is a relay with opposed windings o, p and operates when q is fully charged and no current flows in p., Contact n then opens and q discharges, when the relay is de-energized, n closes, m, and k open and the new cycle begins.
