Abstract

1,092,018. Automatic temperature control. FARREL CORPORATION. June 13, 1966 [Sept.29, 1965], No.26295/66. Heading G3R. An extrusion press having a container wherein a billet is heated by radiant heat from a heating element surrounding the container comprises a thermocouple responsive to the temperature of the container and effective to control the heating element such that when the temperature of the controller is below a first predetermined temperature the whole of the heating element is energized; when the temperature of the container is between the first temperature and a second predetermined, higher, temperature only part of the heating element is energized and when the container temperature is above the second temperature the heating element is de-energized. Thus over the normal working range only part of the heating element is energized which energization is in a cyclic ON-OFF mode.
