Abstract

1,090,269. Ventilating closets. W. B. ROSS. March 23, 1965 [March 26, 1964], No. 12149/ 65. Heading E1C. Apparatus for ventilating a sanitary closet pan 1 with a hinged seat 4 comprises a ventilating pipe 6 communicating with the pan 1 at one end and with the outside air at the other and an extractor fan 7 in the pipe 6 driven by an electric motor 8 controlled by a switch 9, actuated by an arm 10 secured to the seat 4, when occupied (against the action of a spring 12). The pipe 6 may be connected to and open into the flush pipe 3 or the vent-pipe of the drainage system. With a group of closets all the pipes 6 have a common manifold fitted with a fan or each pipe 6 may be so fitted.
