A roller-type door closure or partition for a building extends between the floor 14 and a horizontal, overhead member 12 and comprises a flexible sheet 13, e.g. of nylon, secured at its upper edge to the overhead member 12, a roller 19 secured to the bottom edge of the sheet 13 parallel to the overhead member 12, and externally actuated drive means positively coupled to the roller 19 to rotate the latter whereby it winds itself within the sheet 13 and moves upwardly towards the overhead member 12. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, single and double pulleys 22, 23 are mounted coaxially at opposite ends of the roller 19 and are guided for vertical movement in vertical channels 24, 25. The roller 19 is rotated by an elevating line 27 wound round the double pulley 23 and over a reversing pulley 26 to a crank operated, winding reel 28, 37. Tensioning lines 33, 29 provided with springs 35, 31 are wound round the pulleys 22, 23 and are anchored at 36, 32. In a modification (Fig. 6), the sheet tensioning is provided by a counterweight (49) mounted within the roller 19 at its end adjacent the elevating pulley (47), and lock members (50) are provided along the channel 25. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, a motor 38 carried on a pivotal arm 41 drives the roller 19 through a gear box 39 mounted on one end of the roller. In an further embodiment, Fig. 7, the elevating line 60 raises or lowers a pulley 57 carried by and between a pair of plates (55, 56) having rollers 53, 54 guided in vertical channels (51). A tensioning line 58 is anchored at one end 59 to the ground, passes upwardly and over the pulley 57, and passes round and is secured at its opposite end to one end of the roller 19. A spring loaded finger (67, 65) releasably retains the roller 19 in its lowered position.
