Abstract

1,088,422. Endless conveyers. SOLAR THOMSON ENGINEERING Ltd. Jan. 5, 1965 [Jan. 7, 1964], No. 721/64. Heading B8A. An endless conveyer belt 10 is wrapped around one or more endless driving belts 11, the inner surface of the conveyer belt 10 and the outer surface of each driving belt 11 being formed with wedge shaped longitudinal ribs which interengage for driving the belt 10. The ribs on the conveyer belt 10 extend over only the centre portion thereof the unribbed marginal portions thereof being supported for troughing on rollers. The ribbed area on the drive belt extends beyond the width of the ribbed area on the conveyer belt. The ribs on the conveyer belt 10 are wider than the ribs on the drive belt 11, the wider ribs having grit collecting grooves running along their crests. Part of the unribbed margins of belt 10 are supported on the ribbed marginal portions of belt 11. Lateral wandering of the conveyer belt 10 is restricted by grooved pulleys 33 engaging the ribs on the belt.
