Abstract

914,155. Conveyers. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE - GES. Aug. 3, 1960 [Aug. 4, 1959], No. 26827/60. Class 78 (1). Articles are fed to a wrapping- machine along a surface 3 by means of dogs 2<SP>1</SP> on carriages 2 which are provided with rollers 4 running on a track 5 and which are driven along a section of the track by an endless belt 7 of hexagonal cross-section. The belt is urged into engagement with grooves in the carriages along the upper run of the track 5 by rollers 18 under the action of springs 19 and is lifted out of engagement with the carriages by rollers 11, 12, 9, the track 5 in this region being replaced by two V-belts 15 which advance the carriages towards driving wheels 13 provided with teeth 13<SP>1</SP> which engage the carriages and return them to the upper run of the track 5. To vary the spacing between the carriages along the upper run the speed of rotation of driving wheels 13 is varied, keeping the speed of belt 7 constant or vice versa.
