Abstract

The invention comprises a compound of the formula <FORM:1088265/C2/1> wherein R represents an alkenoic or an aromatic carboxylic acid radical having up to 12 carbon atoms and a process for preparing a compound of the above formula wherein R represents a carboxylic radical containing up to 12 carbon atoms which comprises reacting the corresponding 2,3-epithio-5a -androstan-17b -ol with a reactive carboxylic acyl derivative consisting of a carboxylic acyl radical having up to 12 carbon atoms in the presence of a condensing agent. Pharmaceutical compositions having anabolic activity and containing the above compounds are administered orally, enterally or locally.
