Abstract
1, 087, 452. Steam turbine plant. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 2, 1965 [Feb. 28, 1964], No. 8404/64. Heading F1T. [Also in Division F2] A steam generating superheating and reheating unit 1 receives feed water from a pump at 3 which is supplied at high pressure and temperature, via pipe 5 and governor valve 7, to a high pressure turbine cylinder 9 from which the outlet steam is fed to intermediate cylinder 19, via pipe 13, a reheater section of unit 1, pipe 15 and interceptor valve 17 and thence, via duct 21 and interceptor valve 23, to a central inlet of a two flow low pressure cylinder 25 from which the extract passes through condensers 27 connected to an extraction pump 33; the cylinder rotors being connected in tandem and to the alternator 35, by shaft 37. Steam bleeding points H1 - H6 provided connecting through feed water heaters to the condenser. The interceptor valve 23 (see group F2V) for preventing over-speeding upon sudden loss of load comprises a butterfly closure (51) which is rotated upon a shaft (49) Figs. 3 and 8 (not shown) by an actuator (83) connected to a lever (80) which is also connected to a dashpot (86) whereby closure is effected at a higher initial rate.
