Abstract
108,349. Patton, W., and Weber, C. July 31, 1916. Apparatus fitted to volume-measuring apparatus.-Apparatus for dispensing measured or weighed quantities of granular materials comprises a supply bin, which may be transparent to display the contents, and one or more measuring- chambers adjustable in capacity, both for variation of the quantity to be dispensed and for alteration of density of the material. Means for indicating the capacity of the measuring-chamber to the operator and to the customer are provided, and the measured quantity may be delivered into a pan which may be lowered on to a weighing-apparatus, excess material being supplied to this pan from a separate compartment open to the supply bin but having a manually controlled discharge door. Fig. 4 shows an elevation of two similar measuring apparatus separate from the supply bin 1, Fig. 1, the hoppers 3 being located at the bottom of the bin. The capacity of the measuring-chambers is indicated on dials 124, Fig. 1, and the value or quantity is shown by notches in sliding members 102. The material is discharged into a hopper 135, which may form the scale-pan of a weighing-apparatus or may rest in a neck in an outer hopper 134.
