Abstract
1,076,729. Boots &c. CAT'S PAW RUBBER CO. Inc. Nov. 29, 1965, No. 50634/65. Heading A3B. A shoe sole or heel of resilient flexible material, e.g. cellular rubber, has a flat ground engaging lower surface in which a number of recesses are provided each recess having cylindrical side walls 2a (Fig. 7) or upwardly converging frustoconical side walls (3a, Fig. 5, not shown) and an outwardly convex base 2c, the arrangement being such that when the sole 1a is flexed the recesses are elongated and the base of each recess is extended outwardly to release any foreign matter F lodged in the recesses. The lowest point of the convex base 2c may be level with the ground engaging surface of the sole 1a or may be slightly above it (Fig. 3, not shown).
