Abstract

1,076,467. Magnetic separators. ELECTROMAGNETS Ltd. Aug. 9, 1965 [Aug. 19, 1964], No. 33798/64. Heading B2J. In an apparatus for separating a stream of material A containing magnetizable particles, the material falls through a zone B between a magnetic drum separator 101 and a moving belt 13. Material of greater magnetic affinity is collected by the separator 101 and discharged at C, the residue of the stream A containing material of smaller affinity adhering to the belt, which is magnetized by a permanent or electromagnet 11, and being carried by the belt to a discharge zone D. The decontaminated material is discharged at E. In an other embodiment, the drum separator is replaced by a pair of oppositely disposed drum separators 101a, 102 a (Fig. 3).
