Abstract

1,076,393. Optical systems. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Oct. 29, 1964, No.44069/64. Heading G2J. An optical system for producing light of a predetermined frequency content comprises light dispersing means, for example a reflecting diffraction grating 1, for splitting input light into its frequency components, and reflecting surfaces 3 positioned to reflect selected spectral components of the light from the dispersing means which is incident thereon back to the dispersing means whereby the reflected light is recombined to produce output light containing only those frequencies selected by the reflecting surfaces 3. The reflecting surfaces may be provided by a Fresnel mirror, the unwanted reflecting portions thereof being masked.
