Abstract
1,075,795. Clamps. F. A. HUGHES & CO. Ltd. May 31, 1965 [July 3, 1964], No. 27489/64. Heading B4W. A G-clamp comprises a frame 1 having a fixed clamping jaw 2, a movable jaw 6 retained in the frame by a pin 7 attached to the frame and passing through an L-shaped slot in one end of the jaw 6, the jaw 6 having a concave surface forming the bottom of an arcuate groove 13 against which the end of the threaded bolt 14 is applied to clamp an object between the jaws. The groove is shaped to fit the threaded end of the bolt and permits sliding contact therewith as an object is clamped. The clamping surfaces are defined by projections or they may be continuous solid surfaces. The jaw 6 has a clamping surface 9 with a depression 10 inclined at an angle to the remainder of the surface, the depression having an extension 11 at its free end at right angles to the remainder of the depression. The depression 10 and extension 11 allow the clamp to be attached to plate and bulb steelwork. The frame has an aperture 16 wherein a galvanic anode may be clamped by a screw.
