Abstract
1,075,614. Shrinking wrappers. KALLE A.G. Oct. 21, 1964 [Oct. 23, 1963], No. 42949/64. Heading B8C. Articles are packaged in heat shrinkable film, only part of which is subsequently heat shrunk. In the apparatus described a wrapped woollen blanket gripped between conveyer belts 3, 3a (Fig. 1) is carried past nozzles 10 which blow hot air or nitrogen on to the sides of the package. Alternatively the package may be tightly gripped between two metal plates and submerged in hot liquid, the plates gripping the package sufficiently well to ensure that no liquid penetrates between the plates and the surfaces of the package. The belts 3, 3a are as wide as, or wider than, the package and so protect the surfaces that they cover from heat. The belts 3, 3a travel round spring rollers 7 which allow slight variation in the height of the package, and a device 9 permits adjustment of the belts 3, 3a for greater variations. The positions of the nozzles 10 and guides 2 are also adjustable for different-sized articles. The surfaces of the package which are prevented from heat shrinking may be printed or perforated, before or after heat shrinking the package.
