Abstract

1,74,063. Photo-sensitive elements used In the dye developer transfer process. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. April 15, 1964 [May 1, 1963], No.15631/64. Heading G2C. A photo-sensitive element comprises a support carrying in sequence (1) a polymeric acid layer (2) if desired an inert alkali permeable spacer layer and (3) a silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a dye developer and is used to form colour images by the dye developer transfer process. Specified polymeric acids are cellulose acetate hydrogen phthalate/glutarate/ succinate, ethyl cellulose hydrogen succinate, ethyl cellulose acetate hydrogen succinate, cellulose acetate hydrogen succinate hydrogen phthalate, ether and ester derivatives of cellulose modified with sulpho anhydrides, polystyrene sulphonic acid, carboxy methyl cellulose, polyvinyl hydrogen phthalate, polyvinyl acetate hydrogen phthalate, acetals of polyvinyl alcohol with carboxy or sulpho substituted aldehydes and partial esters of ethylene/ maleic anhydride and methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymers. The polymeric acid may be mixed with a cellulose ester. Specified spacer layers are cellulose acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, gelatine and those described in (insert serial 1, 071, 087) as exhibiting temperature dependent permeability to alkali.
