Abstract

1,073,818. Feeding cards. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Nov. 25, 1965 [Dec. 24, 1964], No. 50107/65. Heading B8S. Cards are discharged one by one from the bottom of hopper 10 by picker 24 which pivots at 31 and is operated via cams 27 and 28 by rollers 29. Picker 24 reciprocates in such a way that a second card is fed towards rollers 17 (with the aid of roller 16) before the first card has left the hopper so as to overlap the cards. As the overlap approaches the gap 20, lever 35 is operated by a cam to raise the throat blade 18 to permit the passage of the overlap. In this way the cards are discharged in overlapping pairs.
