Abstract

1,071,491. Selective signalling. PLESSEY-UK Ltd. March 4, 1964 [March 12, 1963], No. 9718/63. Heading G4H. In a frequency measuring system the unknown frequency is compared with a known frequency formed by selectively adding various reference frequencies, and the known frequency is progressively modified in accordance with the result of the comparison until equality is attained, the particular selection of reference frequencies necessary to achieve this being a measure of the unknown frequency. As described, pulses from a 16 kc/s. oscillator 7 Fig. 1, are successively divided by bi-stable circuits C-H to give reference frequencies of 8 kc/s., 2 kc/s. &c. These reference frequencies are selectively combined, in accordance with the contents of a counter 1 to 6 to produce a known frequency K. The input frequency is compared with the known frequency by logic circuit 15 to 24 and any difference steps the counter 1 to 6 forwards or backwards until equality is attained.
