Abstract

The tuyere nozzle 6 of a blast furnace has a part spherical surface 7 to co-operate with a part spherical surface on the end part 4 of the blast pipe, and the blast pipe end of the nozzle 6 is spaced from the inner surface of a cooling housing 5 so that the spherical surface 7 is unaffected by deformation of the housing 5.
