Abstract

1,008,723. Blowing lances; feeding granular &c. material. BOT BRASSERT OXYGEN TECHNIK A.G. July 18, 1962 [July 21, 1961], No. 27650/62. Heading F4B. A lance comprises a water-cooled supply tube 2, for additives such as coke, iron ore or quicklime, concentric around a tube 1 for refining gas, such as oxygen, which is movable in a vertical direction within the additive supply tube, the nose portion 4 of the gas supply tube having, internally, a Venturi, and externally, a frusto-conical portion which fits into an internal conical portion 9 on the nose piece 11 of the additive supply tube. This conical portion on the additive supply tube is surmounted by a further conical portion which allows the complete nozzle to act as an adjustable additive valve when the inner nose portion is moved. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the mating parts of the two nose portions are cylindrical.
