Abstract
1,068,279. Superposed hearth furnaces. KLOCENER - HUMBOLDT - DEUTZ A.G. Nov. 10, 1965 [Nov. 13, 1964], No. 47674/65. Addition to 1,048,980. Heading F4B. In the superposed hearth furnace for burning carbonaceous clay disclosed in Specification 1,048,980, stirring apparatus comprising a rotatable central hollow shaft 32 and stirring arms 33 is supplied with air at 36 which is discharged on to the clay through orifices on the underside of the arms 33 in the direction of arrows 35. Cooling air is similarly supplied to the lowermost hearth by blocking the shaft 32 with a disc 44 and supplying the air at 43. Further cooling air may be supplied to these hearths through openings 41, 42 in the side walls.
