Abstract

1,068,115. Clamps. CARVER & CO. (ENGINEERS) Ltd. April 15, 1966 [April 15, 1965], No. 16380/65. Heading B4W. In a C-clamp having a coarse and fine adjusting means for a movable jaw member 7 slidably mounted on a frame yoke 1 which carries an opposed jaw 4, the coarse adjusting means comprises a series of teeth with which a fulcrum part of the movable jaw member is selectively engaged during the initial setting, the fine adjusting means comprising a pressure screw 12 adapted to bear on the rear face of the yoke bar 2 and thereby displace the movable jaw member angularly about the fulcrum part. The yoke bar 2 is provided with a series of ratchet teeth 14 separated by notches 15 which are arranged in two separate, spaced apart, parallel rows along each front corner edge of the bar so as to extend partly into the front face and partly into the side face of the bar. The movable jaw carries a fulcrum part comprising an integral projection 16 of reentrant V-section adapted to be engaged with selected pairs of ratchet teeth 14. Specification 863,441 is referred to.
