Abstract

1,067,001. Ironing presses. R. P. GUDGEON. Jan. 4, 1966 [Jan. 5, 1965], No. 363/65. Heading D1A. A press comprises a table member 1 whose upper and lower halves are a pressing pad and pressing iron respectively, which is reciprocated between a position below a pressing iron 3 and above a pressing pad 4 which apply pressure to the upper and lower surfaces of the member 1. Member 1 has rollers 13 running on guides 14, 15 along which it is reciprocated by a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder 2. Pad 4 is operated hydraulically or pneumatically through an adjuster. Member 1 is lifted into contact with iron 3 hydraulically or pneumatically through an adjuster. The surfaces of iron 3, pad 4 and member 1 may be heated and may emit steam. A vacuum may be applied to the surfaces.
