Abstract

1,065,525. Rotary-scythe mowers. P. DE HALLEUX. Oct. 17, 1963 [Oct. 19, 1962], No. 41017/63. Heading A1F. A rotary-scythe lawn-mower is provided with gutters 1, arranged behind its cutting edges 11, the purpose of which is to receive the cuttings and to eject them centrifugally on to an inclined surface 4, the air-current produced by the gutters being sufficient to carry the cuttings up a vertical duct 2, around a horizontal elbow 9, and into a perforated grass-collector 5 arranged directly above the motor 6 of the mower so as to be supportable evenly by the four wheels 7 thereof. The collector 5 has a lid 8 and a lateral flap 10 for emptying. In order to assist settling of the cuttings in the collector 5, a mechanical connection 19, such as a rubber bush, is made between the motor 6 and the box 5. The cutters 11 may be the sharpened edges of a rectangular blade or they may even be formed on the lower edges of the gutters (Fig. 6, not shown) which are then pendant on a disc 13.
