Abstract
The growth of micro-organisms in waters is inhibited by treatment of at least a portion of the water with a brominated anion-exchange resin and the so brominated solution is then mixed with the remaining unbrominated water.ALSO:A quaternary ammonium styrene/8% divinyl benzene anion exchange resin is treated with 35% bromine water and 17% sodium bromide to give Brn-ions where n is 3, 5 or 7. Quaternary poly(vinyl pyridine) resin may be similarly treated.
