Abstract
1,062,819. Electric incandescent lamps. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Aug. 10, 1964 [Aug. 12, 1963], No. 32526/64. Heading H1F. In an incandescent lamp having a tubular quartz envelope containing a coiled coil filament, the ratio of the width of the primary coil (that is, the dimension approximately parallel to the axis of the secondary coil) to the height of the primary coil (that is, the dimension approximately perpendicular to the axis of the secondary coil) is greater than unity, and preferably lies between 1.5 and 6À0. The secondary coil may be of circular section or its dimensions in two mutually perpendicular directions at right angles to its length may have a ratio between 2 and 8. The primary coil is preferably wound on two parallel touching wire mandrels of the same diameter so that it has a width to height ratio of 2 and is approximately elliptical in shape. The filament is mounted on the spiral-shaped inner ends of the lead-in wires by threading a few turns of the primary winding thereon.
